16th December

It hardly needs mentioning that it remained mild and dreary. Exceptionally late Goldfinch passage continued, with another 75 south at the Bill; wintering singles of Chiffchaff and Firecrest were also still there, a Short-eared Owl was at Southwell at dusk, the long-staying Redshank was at Ferrybridge and 2 Great Northern Divers were still in Portland Harbour. The only other reports were of seawatching, with 5 Red-throated Divers and a Black-throated Diver through off the Bill.
